Shawna came to me with a fabulous color palette. She was working in design at the time and brought fabric swatches with her. The floral scroll patterns were vintage but the colors were very modern. The entire theme grew from that: Modern-Vintage.
We found a site that was beautiful and very rustic. Rustic was not the overall look Shawna loved so the challenge came in adding elements that defined the Modern-Vintage feel but still worked in the rustic surroundings. I love a challenge!
A magnificent deck was built under a 4000-year-old oak tree for the guests to dine. The existing deck was used for the ceremony and later transformed into a lounge area for dancing.
I constructed three long wood panels and upholstered them in fabric that Shawna provided and strung them in the trees to form a unique backdrop for the couple to exchange their vows. The florist also hung beaded cones filled with orchids to finish the look. Over the ceremony deck we hung 40 twinkling lanterns that were lined with vellum paper that matched the bride’s colors.
