Emily and Gus met when they were teenagers in our hometown. I personally have known the Green family for around 8 years and was so honored to be a part of their wedding.
The ceremony took place in the backyard of Gus’s family home and the reception on the grounds of a Historic home in downtown San Luis Obispo. I took my cues from both the bride and groom who loved an “Oriental Garden” feel but wanted it more modern.
Gus is a budding new architect and created a beautiful bamboo structure for the ceremony. I didn’t want to take away from it and so kept the decor very simple; some grass-green silk and orchids combined with some local red maple branches. Rose petals formed the aisle and grass-green umbrellas added some fun and shade from the Summer afternoon. For the bride’s bouquet I used Garden roses, freesia and stephanotis and added a few small buds of the bridesmaids flowers to tie into their dresses of “Beet” and “Azalea”.
